Investments in an Age of Perpetual War and High Oil Prices

The following is contribution from my son, David Foreman, an Internet marketer who follows the economic trends closely. His website is at http://www.interactivelimited.com/

I am starting to get a clearer picture of what the investment climate will be going forward. I think ongoing high oil prices and a financially debilitating commitment to military engagement will create some investment opportunities. Energy efficiency will not be achieved for years to come. People will shift spending to low energy activities.

Amazon.com -- why drive when you can buy online and have it delivered for free?
Google same concept as above
Fed Ex same concept as above
Honda Motors -- has most flexible production lines and largest
inventory and production of small cars

Best Bet -- Apple Computer -- Computer toys which consume minimal power over exiting toys should boom. Rather than fast cars, giant refrigerators and houses with 12ft cathedral Ceilings and "Guest Bathrooms" consumers may opt for a computer that actually works, an iPhone that looks cool (and actually works) or download video and music from an online service...that actually works. When consumers are faced with economic choices they often use substitution. I think consumers will begin staying home, surfing the web more and buying off the web more.

As for Apple Computer -- I feel very strongly that within 2 years they will release a "computer" that will be little more than an iPhone with massive memory and very fast Internet connection speeds. I think that you will be able to use it as a stand alone device or plug this computer into any screen and keyboard combination, in a car, in an airport, at home, with your TV, with a wall phone in a cafe. Once this happens Apple will crush all competitors as people realize that syncing devices at home at work and for their phone is cumbersome. Apple's new cloud servers may become your universal storage and back up drive for large media files so you can access anything you want from anyplace while having the speed and convenience of having your email, contacts and text files and docs in your pocket where-ever you go. Even at home you will prefer to just plug in your device in any room of your house rather than always having to go to your desk, or to your laptop. In the kitchen you will have a screen with a port that you just plug in your "iPhone" and that will make your desktop appear on a touch screen that costs about 100 bucks. in the living room you will just plug in to your TV to check email between shows, download a movie, chat with a friend etc. In the bedroom your phone will wake you up, play music on your stereo, play an on-demand morning news program etc.
